Yes, we did finally decide on a name before she made her apperance.
Ava was born on Aug 20, 2009 at 1241 pm. She was 6 lbs 0.5 oz and 19 inches long and healthy. She was letting everyone know that she wasn't happy with all that they were doing to her.
She had APGAR scores of 9 & 9 and no jaundice. She ate a 2 oz bottle in 20 minutes once they brought her to the room. She is a little pig and definitely makes her demands known.
The whole C/S was so totally different from Ian, mostly good, a little bad. They did a spinal and the first attempt hit something and made me jump and put me in tears. Luckily the next try was better. We also discovered that morphine and I don't get along as well as Percocet and I don't get along:) I can not handle high level narcotics. The worst thing about the recovery was the tension headache that I had from Friday, the 21 through Friday the 28th. I swear I wanted my head cut off. Other than that, the recovery was a lot easier than with Ian. I didn't realize how sick I was with Ian until now. The bittersweet part of Ava's birth was that Perry's stepmom's dad died that same day in Pensacola about an hour after she was born. He did know that she had been born and what her name was before he died. So one light went out while another was born.
Ava's already had her 1 week checkup and she had weighed 6 lbs 5 oz. We weighed her last night and she is 6 lbs 13 oz. So seriously, this child loves to eat:)
Ian is being a great big brother. He loves to help and give her kisses and if she cries, he comes running to check on her. We are being patient with the tantrums.
Congrats!! Happy birthday little Ava! Glad things went well and mom and baby are doing well also. I think she looks like you, mom.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations!! Ava is beautiful, and I'm so happy to hear how well she is doing! You can tell that Ian is a proud big brother! How sweet that he loves to give her kisses and runs to check on her when she's crying!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad that the C/S went well for the most part and that you had an easier recovery this time around! My doctor told me yesterday that my recovery should be much easier this time around too.
I'm sorry to hear that Perry's stepmom's dad passed away the same day that Ava was born. Hugs to you guys!
Woo hoo! She's here!!! She is absolutely beautiful and oh so precious! Ian must be so proud! How sweet and cute that he checks up on her! i love that! Glad to hear that recovery is going smoother this time around, bummer about the narcotics not agreeing with you though! I'm so sorry to hear that Perry's stepmom's dad passed on the same day. It must be a rollercoaster of emotions right now and you are all in our prayers! Again Congrats, Ava is adorable!
ReplyDeleteI finally have time to catch up on your postings, Ava Kassidy (with a K) is beautiful and I can't wait to meet her. Grandma Great kept asking me all day on the 20th if she (Ava) was here yet, she wanted my Dad to know that his newest great granddaughter was here. When we told him, he gave us a smile and wiggled his big bushy eyebrows like he did for all the grandkids to make them laugh. He passed away happy and I'm so thankful that Ava made her appearence - since we like to believe that when one life passes another is life enters this world. Thank you for everyones prayers. Good Job Dora - you are such a great Mom.
ReplyDeleteGreat pictures! Looks like Ian is proud of his big brother status.
